The allotment site has 38 plots, all being worked. The plot holders are from a wide range of nationalities, mainly from Europe, and it follows that the crops they grow are similarly diverse. Brazilian tomatoes, among many other types, Iranian salad leaves, Portuguese beans are just some of the varieties that have been grown in 2018. The site is run as part of Cobham Garden Club’s portfolio, with the addition of their Greenfingers Shop, where the 350 club members can purchase gardening sundries, composts and fertilisers, and buy plants, some donated to the club, to add to their own gardens. The garden will be open when the produce is growing well, and hopefully some will be entered in the Autumn Show being held the following week as part of local Heritage Day celebrations in the town. The site is not in clear view to the public, and this is a perfect opportunity to find and see how hard local growers work to get quality results. There is only one approach road, single track, so be careful during your visit whether arriving or leaving.
