Five acres to explore, and so much to see. This is a Victorian walled garden that has burst its bounds, so that as much lies outside the walls as within them. Inside the walls, you will find fruit and vegetables, a restored greenhouse stocked with fruit, new tree and shrub planting, and self seeding meadow areas. Outside the walls, the flower garden - with sunny borders around the house, and damp shadier borders on the boundary. At the heart of this part of the garden is a large and beautiful pond. Raise your eyes from the pond and out to the west is one of the best views in Surrey. Elsewhere, an old orchard has become a wildflower meadow cut once a year in September. There’s an abundance of pots around the house, and a restored Victorian Pit Green house with displays of succulents and geraniums.
On Sunday, also opening with the tranquil garden at the Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at East Surrey Hospital. This is a new small walled garden, planted with flowers, shrubs and roses to bring calm to cancer patients and their families. It is maintained and managed by volunteers.
It's a 10 minute drive from Little Priory: rt into Sandy Ln / Bowerhill Ln; ahead at crossroads to Kings Cross Ln; rt into Masons Bridge Road; rt at r'about for East Surrey Hospital. Follow signs for parking.
