The National Garden Scheme is Perennial’s largest single donor, having donated £130,000 in 2018 and more than £1.7 million since the partnership began in 1986 – a contribution which makes a huge difference to the lives of thousands of horticulturists and their families.
Perennial is the only UK charity that exists to help everyone working in the wonderful world of horticulture and its related industries when times get tough. That includes gardeners, landscapers, garden designers, tree surgeons, foresters, groundsmen and everyone that helps keep Britain beautiful. It also helps their families and those retired from the industry.
Working in these sectors can be truly fulfilling, but the work is often physical, seasonal and not highly paid, so a sudden emergency such as an accident or injury can be devastating. Perennial exists as a lifeline delivering front line financial and emotional support and advice to those facing crisis. The nationwide team of highly trained professional caseworkers and debt advisers visit people in their own homes to really get to the root of the problem and help them for as long as they need to rebuild their lives. Perennial helped its clients access £2.9 million in financial assistance in 2017.
