Elmton Village, Derbyshire are celebrating the annual Elmton Festival with Well Dressings, classic cars and open gardens!

Five gardens are open to the public with plants on sale on Saturday and Sunday between 1pm and 5pm. The gardens are Wilmots, Pinfold, Elmwood House, Pear Tree Cottage and Ashlea. Last year this scheme raised £2.7 million nationwide for caring and cancer charities. There is a small entrance fee of £5 for the five gardens. One of these gardens, Pinfold was the 2012 winner of the East Midlands in Bloom Best Residential Garden award. Elmton Village itself was the 2015 and 2016 winner in the East Midlands in Bloom Small Village category, gaining a Silver Gilt award.

More information on these gardens can be found here.

The 2017 Well Dressings will go on display in Elmton Village, near Creswell, Derbyshire on Friday June 23rd. Elmton villagers have been creating Well Dressings since 1986. This is a dedicated community effort involving local people and the residents of the small picturesque village of Elmton, a village that was mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

All the Well Dressings will be revealed on Friday June 23rd at 7:00pm when the traditional ‘Blessing of the Wells’ service led by the  Rev. Liz Kirby takes place. Each well is visited in turn, blessings are given and songs sung accompanied by Whitwell Community Choir. The well dressings remain on public display for the next fortnight.
