More about Brandy Mount House

During the last few years there has been much reorganization of the herbaceous beds, shrubs and terrace with with the intention of reducing the maintenance load, but there has been increasing emphasis on alpines, daphnes and unusual bulbs. Many of the snowdrops are now in four special beds where they can be better appreciated, though there are still groups of them in the grass and around the pond. Towards the end of the snowdrop season there will be narcissi and little later the primulas should be making a good display in the alpine house. The woodland area around the pond has become something of a wild garden with a wide variety of more unusual plants such as Trilliums, Anemones, and Erythroniums. There are even a few dwarfer Rhododendrons which seem to be growing remarkably well considering that chalk is not far underneath.
