Trustwood

Neston

Trustwood is a typical relaxed country garden of 3/4 acre. Our underlying aim over the past 5 years has been to create a haven for wildlife. It has 3 distinct areas with more formal planting to the rear of the house with pergola and deep herbaceous borders, a large area of raised beds for fruit, flowers and vegetables to the front, and finally an area of woodland where the hens live.

Trustwood is three quarters of an acre of woodland garden, featuring deep flower beds to encourage more wildlife,
Over the past five years we have gradually developed the garden to encourage more wildlife. Some of our projects are still on going, such as rejuvenating an old hedge by removing large sycamore trees and replanting with British native species and in the garden by using plants that are insect friendly. The front garden (once a full sized hard tennis court!) has raised beds with a mix of vegetables, fruit trees and flowers that attract pollinators. Our two ponds provide a home for frogs, newts and other water creatures.
Very little in the garden is ever wasted ; either we eat it, or our hens eat it or it goes in the compost which we use on the garden throughout the year. A visitor described our gardening style as relaxed and that can especially be seen in some of our borders where dense planting combats weed growth and provides a display of colour and form.
As a B&B many of the guests enjoy the garden and appreciate the peace and quiet of the woodland location.
