2 gardens and an award winning allotment in the village of Horsell which is on the edge of the Common, famously mentioned in HG Wells's War of the Worlds. 3-4 Birch Cottages is full of charm with an interesting courtyard with rill. Walk down this long garden through into a series of rooms with topiary and attractive planting and many specimen roses. Birch Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage with a box hedge style knot garden, a chinese slate courtyard with planted pots and hanging baskets, a canal water feature and an active white dove dovecote, surrounded with an abundance of planting. Horsell Allotments have over 100 individual plots growing a variety of unusual flowers and vegetables, many not seen in supermarkets, 2 working beehives with informative talks from their owners.
