Dinas Powys

An inspiring and eclectic group of 6 gardens in this small friendly village, all with something different to offer. Attractions incl a garden based on permaculture principles, using perennials, shrubs and edibles together. There are ponds of all sizes and styles, planting in shade and sun, boggy areas, pergolas, child friendly attractions, mature shrubs and trees, vegetables and fruit, challenging terraced designs and wild areas. Plus we have our community gardens opening with lovely displays of vegetable and fruit. Our village church, St Peters, is also opening with displays of flowers, classic cars and other attractions. Lovely home-made teas will be served, incl gluten free options; wine served at Brookleigh. There are many restful and beautiful areas to sit and relax.

Plant sales are also an attraction.

Saturday 1 July, Sunday 2 July (11am - 5pm). Combined admission £5.00, children free. Home-made teas.

Approx 6m SW of Cardiff. Exit M4 at J33, follow A4232 to Leckwith, onto B4267 & follow to Merry Harrier T-lights. Turn R & enter Dinas Powys. Follow yellow NGS signs.

Six gardens in this friendly village, all with something different to offer. 1 Ashgrove is a plantaholic's garden based on permaculture principles, with unusual perennials growing together with fruit, vegetable, a pond, woodland garden. Brookleigh is a large garden, many specimen trees, colourful herbaceous borders, plus a large pond and bog. The Pound is an established garden cleverly and attractively designed around a steep terrace, full of lovely trees, shrubs and perennials. West Cliff is a garden that is also terraced in part, and is being reclaimed by its current owners, and which winds itself around the house in a tempting way. Our community gardens consist of many small plots for Veg and flowers, absolutely overflowing with produce. 32 Longmeadow Drive ia a small suburban garden defined by distinctive areas, a lawn, a feature cherry plum tree surrounded by gravel and providing the shade for a small collection of hostas, a unique water feature, herbaceous borders with feature grasses planted to encourage bees and butterflies, plus gorgeous hanging baskets.
