The garden at East Ruston Old Vicarage is unique in the huge range of plants that grow there from desert cacti to prehistoric tree ferns, This is firstly because of its location close to the North Sea where severe frost is a rarity and secondly the shelter belts surrounding the garden which further improves the microclimate. The garden is composed if a series of rooms each with its own theme; some hugely busy and colourful, some quietly green and calming. Wild flower meadows in spring, the early bulbs, the Mediterranean garden, the sunk garden, vegetable and cutting gardens, the desert wash, the woodlands and exotic gardens, Californian border and a simple but superb cornfield with all the old cornfield 'weeds' of yesteryear a perfectly picturesque panoply of colour. This is a garden not to miss but to enjoy not once but many times.
Garden Event/Plant Fair 8th June at 10am. Over 30 plants stands and garden related products. BBC Radio Norfolk Gardeners Question Time, talks.
