Lampeter

Llanerchaeron is a small C18 Welsh gentry estate set in the beautiful Dyffryn Aeron. The estate survived virtually unaltered into the 20th Century. 2 extensive restored walled gardens produce home grown vegetables, fruit and herbs for sale. The kitchen garden sits at the core of the estate with a John Nash villa built in 1795 and home farm, all virtually unaltered since its construction.

Llanaerchaeron situated in the Vale of Aeron close to Aberaeron is a rare survivor of a once typical late eighteenth century Welsh country estate. The villa was built in the 1790s by one of Britains finest architects John Nash. The situation and layout of the service areas, gardens and home farm provide a perfect illustration of the self-sufficiency of the model country property of its time. The arrangement of the villa, pleasure grounds, and working landscape was designed as a complete entirety. At Llanerchaeron you will be able to see two extensive walled gardens that are currently being gardened by an enthusiastic group of volunteers and two employed gardeners. The gardens are displayed as a traditional kitchen garden, with an extensive collection of espalier fruit trees and herbaceous borders around the outside walls. The gardens display fine examples of late Georgian and early Victorian garden technology. There are also fine examples of Georgian pleasure grounds, lake and traditional Welsh country parkland.
