Garden Tales
The new book by NGS award-winner Cynthia Ramsden; a fascinating read for garden openers and visitors alike

Garden Tales, the second book by award-winning Derbyshire garden owner Cynthia Ramsden goes behind the scenes at Fanshawe Gate Hall, as designers, builders, gardeners, artists, volunteers and visitors talk about their own lives, and what brings them back to one of the most popular private gardens on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District.
Through interviews with over 40 characters associated with the Hall and its garden, Cynthia invites the reader to share in the pleasures, and occasional pains, of opening a private garden to the general public.
"Gardens are meant to be shared," says Cynthia Ramsden. "They are a gift to the home-owner to tend, to nurture and to share with others."
The 160 page book is beautifully illustrated throughout with colour images of each of the contributors and views of the wonderful garden that surrounds Fanshawe Gate Hall, which has been the Ramsden family home for the last fifty years.
Profits from the sale of Garden Tales will be donated to the charities supported by both The National Gardens Scheme (NGS) and Fanshawe Gate Hall, including the Oesophageal Patients Association which supported Cynthia through her own episode with cancer.
