The National Gardens Scheme is proud to be backing Hospice Care Week (8 to 14 October).
National charity Help the Hospices, which the NGS has supported since 1997, has joined forces with more than 100 local hospices to raise the profile of hospice care.
The theme of Hospice Care Week this year is ‘Be surprised, hospice care is for everyone’, highlighting how hospices support people from all corners of their community – whoever they are, wherever they are and whatever their illness.
Hospices across the UK are now gathering messages from supporters, patients, volunteers and celebrities to celebrate Hospice Care Week. Hundreds of people – including many NGS supporters and volunteers - have posted pictures online of themselves holding up a message of support and saying ‘I am hospice care’, to bring to life how many different people and communities get involved with and receive hospice care. As the annual awareness week for the hospice sector, Hospice Care Week is an opportunity to celebrate our ongoing support for the incredible care that local hospices provide to seriously ill people and their families. It’s not too late to join in! Find out more and pledge your support at www.besurprised.org.uk or #hospicecareweek on Twitter.
