If you think Open Days are a ‘one-off’ event, think again. Many of our dedicated garden owners work tirelessly for months inviting visitors to their gardens by appointment. Not surprisingly, our gardens are very popular places for gardening clubs to visit.
At Rewela Cottage in Skewsby near York, owners John Plant and Daphne Ellis never seem to tire. This year they will have shown 8 groups around their beautiful garden, raising c. £650 for the NGS, in addition to two Open Days. Recently they welcomed groups continuously for 4 days, dodging the rain, enthusiastically answering questions and, of course, providing delicious homemade tea and cake for everyone.
One of the visiting groups, Green Finger Tips Gardening Club published a great review on their website which you can read here. A fitting ‘Thank You’ to two of our great NGS supporters – and typical of so many.
Rewela Cottage’s next NGS Open Day is on Sunday 22 July.
