Beechwell House, a privately owned garden located in Yate, near Bristol, opens for the NGS this weekend. So named because of the Beech Tree and the 16th century well in the garden, the garden at Beechwell House has been transformed by owner Tim Wilmot from what was once a large patio, beech hedge and overgrown orchard, into a garden of largely sub-tropical and architectural planting.
The garden has been completely designed, created and maintained by garden owner Tim Wilmot. "There are no professional gardeners on my plot!" he said.
The transformed garden contains a host of small palms, Italian Cypresses, Phormiums, Yuccas, Trachycarpus Palms and Bamboos. There's also a pagoda, gravel garden, wildlife pond and some large 'Cotswold Stone' boulders spread throughout the garden too.
Beechwell House is open on Sunday 12 September from 1pm - 5pm.
