2010 Private Gardens of Cheshire Tour
After the great success of the inaugural garden tour to Norfolk in summer 2009, Brightwater Holidays is delighted to announce a new four-day garden tour during summer 2010 – The Private Gardens of Cheshire. This is a great opportunity to travel with likeminded people who enjoy visiting gardens and supporting the NGS.

Cheshire, is a prosperous and attractive county that is peppered with historic buildings, bustling market towns – and some superb gardens. For the tour we have selected a diverse range of private gardens as well as some famous properties.
We will depart by coach from London on May 30th, with pick-up points in Luton, Northampton, Birmingham and Crewe railway station. From there we transfer to Dorfold Hall near Nantwich, where we find an 18-acre garden with formal Lawns and herbaceous borders and an excellent display of rhododendrons, magnolias and azaleas.

Other private gardens include Briarfield, whose south-facing sandy slopes are home to many specialist plants; Mount Pleasant, ten acres of gardens and woodland with impressive views over the surrounding countryside; Henbury Hall, beautifully landscaped and full of variety, and Bluebell Cottage in the heart of rural Cheshire packed with thousands of both rare and familiar hardy herbaceous perennials.
At Cholmondeley Castle, home of the Marchioness of Cholmondeley we will wander among romantically landscaped gardens with flowering shrubs and rare trees, while at Ness Botanic Gardens on the Wirral we will discover a fascinating variety of unusual plants from around the world. We are also delighted to visit The Mount, the garden of the past Chairman of the NGS, Nicholas Payne.

A tour of Cheshire would not be complete without a visit to Arley Hall, whose herbaceous borders are one of the great garden sights in England.
The tour will run from 30th May – 2nd June 2010 and is priced at £415 per person with a £60 single room supplement.
The tour cost includes three nights half-board accommodation at the four star Crewe Hall Hotel and entry into all of the gardens to be visited. Travel to and from Crewe railway station can be arranged upon request.
