Chris Beardshaw Introduces Gardenersclick.com, The Most Powerful Tool In The Toolshed

Garden designer and TV presenter Chris Beardshaw is one of the founders of award winning social networking site Gardenersclick ( www.gardenersclick.com ), dedicated to everyone who loves gardening. He introduces the web site and explains why he is keen to encourage NGS garden owners to join up for FREE and let the world see their gardens!

When we launched www.gardenersclick in spring 2008 our aim was to create a unique social networking web site devoted to gardeners and people with a shared love of all things horticultural. We wanted to offer gardeners a facility which would enable them to connect with other gardeners globally and do what they do best - to enthuse and share information about their gardens, as well as gain advice within a constantly growing horticultural community.

Over the last year the gardenersclick website has grown significantly and we now have almost 3,000 members and the popularity continues to grow. The site won a Garden Media Guild Award for best website at the end of last year against some stiff competition due to the high level of features it provides for members.

The site is completely free to join and offers users the ability to create their own dynamic profile including setting up daily gardening to-do lists, recording wildlife visits to their garden and showing off their own gardens and allotments through the gallery function. A feature which could be of great value to those of you in the National Garden Scheme, who could use the site to easily promote your gardens and confirm opening dates and times. We are delighted that we already have several NGS gardeners signed up to the site who are proudly sharing their beautiful and individual gardens to the gardenersclick community. You could also choose to create a specific NGS group membership where you could communicate easily with others in the NGS scheme and share the highs and lows of opening gardens to the public?

The site has a host of useful information for users such as; daily weather forecasts local to your garden, recipe swaps, up-to-date garden to-do-lists, regular interviews with gardeners and of course the highly popular members question arena. As a regular user myself, I will try to answer questions for members when I can.

Members can also enjoy podcasts from Radio 2's allotment guru Terry Walton recorded exclusively for gardenersclick and can listen to Terry chatting with Richard Fishbourne - with humorous yet highly informative insights into life on the allotment.

We are determined to keep improving the site for our users and we have recently introduced more features such as a My News facility and the chance for members to express their views on a variety of hot horticultural issues, in a new Polls and Survey section. Also new to the site is a product trials area which will seek the help of some members to trial some of the latest exciting garden related products.

I am really excited to be a part of the gardenersclick team, as I believe that gardenersclick.com could become one of the most powerful tools in your tool shed! So come and join us and...

Happy Gardening!

Chris
