Description:Influenced by Henk Gerritsen, who collaborated with Strilli Oppenheimer to embrace a naturalistic philosophy combining forces with nature. A haven for insects, animals, fungi and indigenous flora. Naturalistic planting, woodland and meadows. Organic and bio-dynamic kitchen garden and farm
Further details:40-acres of ornamental gardens integrated into an organic farm estate with pastures and woodlands. The gardens were influenced by the Dutch garden designer Henk Gerritsen, and feature naturalistic plantings within existing structures of walls and hedges. They explore the relationship between garden and nature, and how they can work together! Some of the gardens to be found are - The Square Garden, with a surprising box-hedge which separates the two garden themes; a gravel garden and a garden with tall tough perennial plants which co-exist with ground elder. - Friarswalk, an interesting mix of tender shrubs, perennials and grasses. - Long Borders, with their cloud yew hedges, clipped beech, Calystegia and herbacious perennials. - Potager, a mixture of herbs, cut flowers and flowering and perennial vegetables - The Kitchen Garden, certified organic and bio-dynamic,supplying vegetables for the farm shop and the tearooms. - Lake and woodlands with camellias, rhododendrons and bluebells. Working organic and bio dynamic farm, with Jersey cows, Jacob and Castlemilk sheep and Tamworth and Berkshire pigs.Home reared meat is available, and beauitful wool for knitting from the sheep!
