Description:Fascinating country garden created over 40 yrs, from waste land. Still cared for solely by the same lady. Rare and interesting plant collections incl rhododendrons, ferns, hydrangea, clematis and roses cover a 45ft long pergola. Fan-shaped knot garden, 3 bridges and new plantings replace those lost in the floods of 2004. Wildlife mill pond created 2011 full of amphibians and wild ducks, wildflowers abound
Very relaxed wildlife garden

Further details:Foxbrush was bought in 1968. The property had been empty for over fifteen years so the surrounding 2 acres was infested with rabbits, ground elder, bindweed, nettles, brambles and debris from frequent floods – although over 10 feet wide in places, we didn’t know there was a river due to overgrowth. We have tried to keep the thoroughfare open for the local wildlife; herons, moorhens, ducks, foxes, hedgehogs, bats, newts, frogs etc and eels of 16 inches long in the river. Apart from the bare bones, old walls, banks, river etc nothing remains of the wilderness. Originally every bit of ground was dug over by myself and at first planted with grass and only small areas for plants – Thirty years on the grass is reduced to a good-sized croquet court with concrete on gravel saving the task of cutting miles of twisting paths and edges. These meander through massed romantic plantings, cris crossing bridges; under tunnels of laburnum, giant gunnera leaves, arches draped with climbers; and on past ponds, statues, herbaceous borders secluded arbours ….. Foxbrush is surrounded by steep banks, high walls and cliffs creating a hollow; a bucket, from which everything wants to escape reaching up for the light. Very hot in summer and a frost pocket in winter. Plus regular flooding with spring and autumn tides – water table is only 18 inches down we are 9 miles from the foot of Snowdon our annual rainfall is 48 inches
