Description:Young (2005), ½-acre, hidden, partly-walled garden. Pergola, arbour, brick paths, Yorkstone terrace, tree house, well, kitchen garden. White wisteria, clematis, shrub and climbing roses, tulips, alliums. This sophisticated cottage garden reflects the owners' love of unusual plants, structure and an artist's eye for sympathetic colour
Further details:This young, sophisticated cottage garden was designed and planted by Carolyn Pawson starting in 2005. The concept is based on strong form with luxuriant planting in harmony with the pretty Georgian cottage it surrounds. The ½-acre garden is completely enclosed and comprises formal, informal, child-friendly and kitchen garden areas. Features that have been introduced include a pergola, brick paths and children's tree house. More recently the sound of water has been introduced on the terrace, and a second water source in the new pebble garden together with bedges of box.The garden, however, really reflects the owner's artistic background and passion for plants especially clematis, roses, spring bulbs and scent. One particular plant of interest is a Jackmanii type clematis bred for and named after the owner.
