Further details:This country house landscape has provided the backdrop, setting, food and raw materials for life at Ightham Mote over seven centuries. As with the House, 700 years of history have left their mark on the landscape, to which changes in the status of the owners, garden fashion, agricultural methods and the needs of wood and timber supply have all contributed. Ightham Mote is set in the foot of a deep valley, at the centre of a sequence of water features, which may be medieval origin
