GardenFinder Advanced Search Help
Advanced Search
Enter a combination of options to search by for the particular garden(s) which interest you. The more options you enter the narrower the search will be, with the most relevant gardens returned as the results.
Start by choosing either a single county to search within, or "All Counties" to search the whole of England and Wales. Don`t forget that NGS counties have boundaries which differ slightly in some areas from the current administrative UK counties.
All the following options can be used in any combination, as required:
- - Enter the postcode to be used as the base point for your search.
- - Enter the maximum distance to search from that postcode.
- - These two options must be entered and the postcode must be a complete, valid UK postcode, for example "GU4 7RT".
- - The date range is optional. If you leave the date option blank then all gardens opening in the current year will be considered for the search.
- - To restrict the search to show gardens opening within a date range you must enter a start date and an end date. Simply select the dates from the drop down calender.
- - Some gardens will open 'By Appointment', and some will open on a 'Regular' basis. You can choose to include either or both. If you choose either of these two options you should check the actual garden details before making visiting arrangements.
- - The keyword option will search the garden description, and the extended description for an exact match on the keyword you have provided. GardenFinder will only search for single keywords or exact phrases. In other words, you can't enter a list of several keywords and expect to get a match on some or all of them. Please note, the spelling must be exact. Tip - use the singular form of a keyword. Example "rose" is better then "roses".
The remaining six tickboxes allow you to further narrow your search as follows:
- - Wheelchairs - tick to select gardens which are wheelchair-friendly.
- - Dogs - tick to select gardens which allow dogs (on leads). Gardens which show the no-dogs symbol do not allow dogs other than guide dogs.
- - Plants - tick to select gardens with plants for sale.
- - Tea / Refreshments - tick to select gardens which offer tea, cakes and other refreshments. Please look at the actual garden information page for more details of the type of refreshment offered.
- - NCCPG - tick to select gardens who are member of the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens.
- - Accommodation - tick to select gardens who can offer accommodation (usually Bed & Breakfast).
