Dorset Treasurer Retires After Many Years With The NGS 22/11/2011 Michael Gallagher the retiring Dorset Treasurer was presented with an engraved trowel by Harriet Boileau, the County Organiser, on behalf of the team at the Dorset AGM on 17th November.
Special Christmas Opening 15/11/2011 Once again the doors of this eclectic house and garden are being thrown open inviting you to experience a Christmas extravaganza. The Secret Garden and Serles House, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 1EN, are the creation of Ian Willis and include an eye opening, jaw dropping mix of antiquities and tongue-in-cheek creations. Opening on Saturday 10th December from 2pm until 5pm and again later from 6pm until 9pm. Irvine the plant-pot man might go as far to sport a festive hat, Santa will be making an appearance and there will be live seasonal music to jolly you along. Christmas cake and tea will be served in the afternoon and mince pies and mulled wine in the evening. With something for everyone, this is one that has to be seen, to be believed!
Sculptures in the Snow 14/11/2011 If the weather forecaster's have got it right then the Christmas opening of Annalal's Gallery in Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 1DN on Sunday 11th December, from 2pm until 4pm, will be a white one! This artisans cottage, home to Anna and Lall Simms two Royal Academy artists, will be festively decorated and include an exhibition of their art. The small Victorian walled garden with it's wonderful winter colour and sense of fun also houses a collection of sculpture giving added interest. Ideally situated just off the High Street and a nice way to round off a Sunday afternoon after a bit of Christmas shopping.
