More about Repton NGS Village Gardens
Askew Cottage, Milton Road - The owner, a professional garden designer, has disguised the rectangular site by using curved paths to link together the different areas. Beech, box and yew hedges provide structure and the planting within is constantly evolving. Features include a circle of meadow grass set within a cloud box hedge, trained apple trees, a small wildlife pool and experimental areas of perennial planting.
16 Askew Grove, A garden inspired by Persian Paradise Gardens. Set within a relatively small plot of approximately 8 by 9 metres attached to a modern house, this enclosed garden includes terraces, walkways, and four beds around a central fountain. It was designed and planted by the owner in 2018. The restricted palette of white and green creates a sense of peace and tranquillity.
10 Chestnut Way - Wander through an acre of sweeping mixed borders, spring bulbs, mature trees to a stunning butterfly bed, maturing arboretum, established prairie. Meet a pair of passionate, practical, compost loving gardeners who gently manage this plantsman's garden. Designed and maintained by the owners. Expect a colourful display throughout the yr. Plenty of seats, conservatory if wet. Prepare to be surprised, it is often described as a tardis.
22 Pinfold Close -Small garden with an interest in tropical plants. palms, gingers, cannas and bananas. Mainly foliage plants. Changes over the last year include, construction of a Safari Breeze Hut and repositioning of pond.
Repton Allotments - Set on the edge of Repton with lovely views over the Derbyshire countryside. There are about 20 plots growing many types of vegetables and flowers too. Includes community area.
Woodend Cottage - Plant lover's garden with glorious views on a sloping 2½ acre site developed organically for yr-round interest. On lower levels herbaceous borders are arranged informally and connected via lawns, thyme bed, pond and pergolas. Mixed woodland and grassed labyrinth lead naturally into fruit, vegetable and herb potager with meadows beyond.
