Get Involved With The NGS
Have a garden you simply have to show off? Have some spare time and a love of the outdoors? Then the NGS could well be for you…
Interested in opening your garden?
Should your garden be in The Yellow Book? Every year, hundreds of new gardens join The National Gardens Scheme to help raise money for caring and nursing charities. If you think your garden fits the bill, please contact your local volunteer team who will help you decide whether you should open for the NGS.
Local volunteering for the NGS
The NGS is run by volunteers based in each county. Over 350 people share the fun and work involved in organising thousands of open garden events. In each area we look for people to fill three key roles:
• County organisers – who organise openings and provide help and advice to garden owners
• Press and Publicity – people who help promote garden openings through local press and media
• Treasurers – to keep account of income and expenditure and organise banking
Although knowledge of gardens is helpful, the main requirements are good organisational skills and people who enjoy working in a team.
