Serendi

Letchworth Garden City

A garden for all seasons. Spring bulbs and trees in abundance in large beds. Four different gravel areas, water rill surrounded by pots, a 'dribble of stones' home to Stipa and Dierama, contemporary knot garden and dry planted area with arch and bench. Later in the year an abundance of roses climbing 5 pillars, perennials and grasses. A greenhouse for over wintering and a Griffin glass house.

This year we are aiming for a bulb bonanza of Tulips combined with a wonderful Wisteria time and Alliums in bud. There is a newly planted Silver Birch area under development also planted with bulbs. This intense colour is offset by a quiet 'dribble' of large stones set in gravel with grasses & sculpture. Meander through the arch to the water rill and mirror area with Acers ,topiary and emerging Hostas.Rambling & climbing Roses are working their way up the 5 pillars of descending size and the two rose arches. Around the lawn in other beds there are Magnolias ,Wallflowers ,more Tulips and Clematis with a Montana assailing to the top of an old pear tree. Perennials take over in the summer months. This exuberance is contrasted with the contemporary knot garden & gravel area. The greenhouse & cold frame are packed with over wintered plants, emerging seedlings & succulents. Stop on the patio for refreshments and to view the photo book & articles about the garden. The Griffin Glasshouse is home to Brugmansia, Oleanders, Plumbago and Pelargoniums.
